Rochester Gymnastics Academy hosted the 2008 Level 6 New York State Gymnastics Championships on May 17-18th. Their Level 6 girl’s team placed 1st overall in the Team Division, winning Vault, Balance Beam, and the Floor Exercise, and taking 2nd on Uneven Bars at this state-wide competition. In the Age 10 Division: Tori Beisheim of Fairport and Brenna Fosco of Macedon both tied for 1st All-Around, earning the NYS Champion title. Tori also won State Champion titles on Beam with a meet high score of 9.925 and in Floor Exercise. She took 4th on Vault and 4th on the Uneven Bars. Brenna earned 2nd place in all four events. Teammate Natalie Gurnett of Irondequoit earned 3rd All-Around, placing 3rd on Vault, Beam, and Floor Exercise. She also placed 6th on Uneven Bars. Chloe Viniski of Fairport placed 8th All-Around, earning 4th on Beam and 5th in Vault. Katie Mansfield of Honeoye Falls placed 10th All-Around and 6th on Beam. Skylar DiBerardinis of Victor placed 4th in the Floor Exercise. In the Age 8-9 Division: Bailey Stehler of Pittsford earned a NYS Champion title in the Floor Exercise. She also placed 6th All-Around and 4th on Beam. Teammate Hannah Gooding of Spencerport placed 3rd on Beam, 6th in the Floor Exercise, and 8th All-Around. |

The RGA All-stars competed in the American Cheer Power Hershey Park Open on May 10, 2008. In the Youth All-Star Level 2 competition, our Junior team placed 4th. In the Senior AllStar Level 3, our seniors placed 3rd. CONGRATULATIONS FROM ALL OF US AT THE RGA |

Over the past few months, Eddie had to make a decision whether to compete for Bulgaria at the European championships, or to compete at the JO National Championships. Having made the decision to test his skills against the best the US has to offer at the Level 10 Junior Olympic Championships, he headed off the Battle creek MI. Competing on Thursday Night, Eddie competed against Level 10 gymnasts from all over the USA, qualifying to compete on Saturday in the All-Around Finals. On Saturday, he repeated the performance of the Previous Thursday to place 8th in the All-Around, and earn a spot on the Junior National team, as well as earn a berth at the VISA championships. The scores from Thursday and Saturday were added together to derive the TOP 6 in each individual event. Eddie then competed on Sunday in the Event Finals for Vault and Floor. After all was said and done, Eddie was crowned the NATIONAL CHAMPION on Floor, and the Runner up on the Vault. Competing in the Level 10 14-16 Year old Age Group, Joseph Hodges had an amazing meet, helping his Regional Team to Win the National Championships, and personally placing 15th in the All-Around, and 10th on the Pommel Horse and 14th on High Bar CONGRATULATIONS FROM ALL OF US AT THE RGA |

The RGA Men's team traveled to Leigh High Valley over the weekend to compete at the Regional Championships. In Level 10, Joseph Hodges placed 6th AA in the 14-15 year old age group. Eddie Penev, Placed 4th AA in the 16-18 year old age group. Both Joseph and Eddie , to earned themselves a spot on the 2008 Region 7 Regional team to compete at the National Championships. Andrew Grabowski, (Level 10 14-15, and Keaton Ackerman, Level6, also qualified to the 2008 National Championships, to take place in Battle Creek, Michigan. Grant McConnaughey and Owen Houlihan represented the RGA Level 7 Team at the Men's Regional Championships.

The RGA Level 8 girls team traveled to Long Island to compete in the NY State championships. With only 5 girls, they managed to place 2nd in the state, and what is even more remarkable, is that all 5 girls were selected to represent NY state at the Regional Championships Rachel Gurnett placed 3rd AA in the 8-11 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 8-11 year old age division. Alyssa Dunham placed 1st AA in the 13 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division. Brittany Blose placed 1st AA in the 14 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division. Alex Liberti placed 2nd AA in the 14 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division. Jessica Madigan placed 2nd AA in the 14 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division.

The RGA team girls exceeded expectations at the IGI invitational held in a bitterly cold Chicago. At Level 10, Becca Ellis placed 7th AA, with Taline placing 2nd AA and placing 1st on Beam At Level 9, Oni Placed 5th of Floor and 8th AA At Level 8, Alex placed 1st AA and 1st on Beam. Rachel and Alyssa placed 2nd AA. Brittany Blose placed 5th AA In Level 7, Valerie placed 2nd AA.

The boys from Rochester Gymnastics Academy (East Rochester) in Levels 5-10 competed at the Windy City Invitational at the University of Illinois – Chicago on January 11-13th, 2008.At Level 5, Dylan Marin, 12, from Pittsford, captured third place on the pommel horse, sixth place on the parallel bars, and tenth place on the high bar, with a ninth place finish all around. Also at Level 5, Michael Leo, 11, from Perinton, earned a 9.05 on the vault for 17th place. At Level 6, Matthew Blahyj, 9, from Webster captured eighth place all-around, placing fourth on the vault, sixth on the parallel bars, eighth on the pommel horse, and tenth on the rings. Brian Lane, 9, from Greece, earned 9.1 on the vault, tied for 28th place at Level 6. In the 10 year old division of Level 6, Scott Lazeroff, from Brighton captured third place overall, winning first place in the floor exercise, third place on the rings, eighth place on the parallel bars and high bar, and tenth place on the vault. Aaron Appelle, also from Brighton, in the 11-year old division, placed seventh on the high bar, ninth on the rings, 11th on the pommel horse, 12th on the vault and 14th on the parallel bars with an overall score that tied for 13th place. In the 12-year-old and older division of Level 6, Nathan Rosenbloom, 13, from Pittsford, placed fifth overall, capturing second place on rings and vault, fifth place on the pommel horse, and eleventh on the floor exercise. In Level 7, Grant McConnaughey, 12, from Pittsford, placed seventh on the pommel horse and 15th on the vault, with an all around place of 18th. In Level 9, Keaton Ackerman, 13 from Penfield, placed 13th all around with eleventh place on the vault and parallel bars, 13th on the pommel horse, and 15th on the floor exercise. Finally, at Level 10, Joseph Hodges, 15, from Webster, earned second place all around, capturing second on the pommel horse, third on the high bar, and sixth on the rings.
